O: Removed duoderm patch from R knee - wound healed underneath. Wounds on hip very mild, healing well, bruising gone on R leg. Scabbing present along underside of R wing where primaries are missing. Drew blood from the L and R medial metatarsal veins. A: Soft tissue trauma resolving well. Issue continues to be if primary feathers will grow back or not.

A: Bird doing well, recovering from trauma well - biggest concern is still whether flight feathers on R wing will grow back or if the follicles were damaged in the traumatic incident.
P: Ok to end gabapentin, move to back room. Move outside once wounds have healed and will just need to monitor to see if there is any new feather growth on R wing.

Gave 0.22 ml torb IM, meloxicam PO, 40 cc LRS PO. Cleaned wound on R knee and covered with duoderm patch.
A: GHOW with signs of trauma - bruising, SQ air, traumatic feather loss. Concerned that only 2 new blood feathers are coming in on R wing, if feather follicles were traumatized feathers may not grow back.
P: Rx meloxicam, gabapentin. Monitor SQ fluid absorption on R distal leg. Monitor SQ air on flanks. Monitor scabbing and bruising on body.

O: Performed quick intake exam. No major findings on initial check. Gave SQ fluids. Placed in regular SS cage in ICU. ------------- PHYSICAL EXAM FINDINGS ---------------- Mentation: QAR Temp (F): 103.6 Dehydration (%): 3 Neurologic: WNL Head/mouth/beak: mm moist, NSF Ears: Minor buffalo gnat irritation in ears Eyes: Potentially reduced vision OD, still tracks very well in hand. Wings: NSF on initial palpation. L primaries are missing more feathers than a regular molt would lose. Legs: NSF on initial palpation. Appeared to potentially favor the R leg once placed in cage. Feet: NSF Body: Some scabbing on dorsal and ventral caudal abdomen. Feather condition: Some L primaries missing, tail IB Ectoparasites: buffalo gnats Radiographic findings: DNE Initial treatment: 60cc LRS SQ in R inguinal.
A: Bird shows a potentially reduced menace response in the right eye. Broad scabbing on lower half of body and missing feathers on L wing. Is in otherwise fair body condition, no ectoparasites observed, well hydrated. Bird may be unable to fly due to missing primaries but will need to complete further examination and imaging to look for further causes of grounding.
P: rx fluids. Complete intake exam in the morning with AD.
